Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, the capital of the Mayan Riviera, is considered to be one of the country’s premier travel destinations due its clear Caribbean Sea, architectural style, and wide variety of attractions. Travelers around the world experience the friendly laid back atmosphere that completes the charm of this colorful paradise. Gaining international acclaim for its high cosmopolitan feel, perfect white sand beaches, chic hotels, effervescent nightlife and culinary arts; it’s easy to see why it attracts people from around the globe.

The main avenue "Quinta Avenida" or "5th Avenue”, is the soul of Playa. A mere block from the ocean, this pedestrian walkway spans the length of the town. Anything you need can be found on this busy street. Hotels, shops, restaurants, cafés, and bars provide endless fun and an array of possibilities. The architecture, music, food and nightlife reflect a fusion of traditional flair and innovation.

The once sleepy fishing village of Playa del Carmen, just 30 minutes south of Cancún, became a Bohemian mecca during the free-wheeling '70s. And while remnants of that lifestyle remain, the times they are a-changing - and pronto. Playa is now the fastest-growing town in Mexico packed with an international mix of fun loving travelers. Today’s crowds saunter through town in four-inch heels, wearing the latest Prada gear and speaking several languages. They come, of course, for the gorgeous beaches and the lively south-of-the-border spirit, but these days those timeless verities of the Mexican Caribbean are augmented by sophistication rivaling that of metropolitan capitals worldwide.

Like Cancun and Cozumel, Playa del Carmen offers an amazing selection of all-inclusive resorts. Playa del Carmen is a modern city, yet boasts a “South American” feel that separates it from some of its neighboring resort areas. It’s the perfect location to begin your coastal adventure

Located on the Pacific side, Puerto Vallarta was a traditional Mexican village before gaining worldwide recognition as a resort travel destination. This means you will find the old-world charm you’d expect on a trip to Mexico as well as some breathtaking resorts. It’s a phenomenal combination! The mild climate, extraordinarily friendly people, wonderfully varied excursions and tours, and great selection of first class restaurants are all in a location known for its security and safety; it's one of the safest tourist destinations in the world.

Puerto Vallarta sits on Bahia del Banderas, the largest natural bay in Mexico, with 100 miles of coastline ringed by mountains. The heart of Puerto Vallarta is easily explored by foot. Enjoy a leisurely stroll down the seafront promenade or “malecon”, and be inspired by statues, monuments and artwork created by local Mexican artists. Artists from around the world gravitate to Puerto Vallarta due to its reputation as a major contemporary art center.

The waters of Banderas Bay welcome humpback whales in the winter. From mid-December to mid-March, whale-watching excursions are one of the most popular sight-seeing attractions. In addition, the waters of Puerto Vallarta rank with the best in the world for both deep-sea and small game fishing. The best season for sailfish is November through May, but there are plenty of smaller fish readily available throughout the year.

Just minutes north of Puerto Vallarta's International Airport exists 100 miles of pristine Pacific coastline known as Riviera Nayarit. Framed by the Sierra Madre mountains and loaded with luxurious resorts, world-renowned surfing, golf courses, rare native wildlife and charming fishing towns, it’s quickly become the newest Pacific destination.

Puerto Vallarta is home to a number of the newer all-inclusive resorts, and has been a fixture on the international tourism map for over 50 years; make it a fixture on your travels.
