The waters of Banderas Bay welcome humpback whales in the winter. From mid-December to mid-March, whale-watching excursions are one of the most popular sight-seeing attractions. In addition, the waters of Puerto Vallarta rank with the best in the world for both deep-sea and small game fishing. The best season for sailfish is November through May, but there are plenty of smaller fish readily available throughout the year.

Just minutes north of Puerto Vallarta's International Airport exists 100 miles of pristine Pacific coastline known as Riviera Nayarit.
