Requirements for Civil/Legal Ceremonies:

• Home address and occupations of Bride & Groom
• Certified copies of Birth Certificates
• Valid Passports
• Original blood test (to determine blood type, HIV and STD – Syphilis and Gonorrhea)  Tests must be taken at the resort and results are ready within 24 hours.  (Fee is included in the administrative/government fee)
• Certified copy of former spouse’s Death Certificate (if applicable)
• If divorced, a certified copy of Divorce Decree is required.  If divorced more than once, please bring each Divorce Decree.  If divorced less than one year, a mandatory pregnancy test must be taken.  If test is positive, wedding cannot be performed. (additional fee of $15.00 applies for test)
• Legal documentation of adoption or name change (if applicable)
• Witnesses:  Name, address, age nationality, passport and tourist ID of 4 witnesses required.  Witnesses must arrive 2 business days prior to ceremony.  Witnesses must be 18 years or older.  If witnesses are not available, Palace Resorts will provide them at no additional cost.
• Bride & groom must be at the resort at least 4 business day prior to wedding day and must arrive at the resort by 12 noon on the first day.  Sundays are not considered a business day.
• A Marriage Certificate is provided by the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico for civil ceremonies, this is a legal document issued in Spanish, all wedding couples must contact their local court house for filing requirements.  Every state/country is different when it comes to filing of foreign marriage documents.  Some states/countries require the certificates to be translated from Spanish to English and others may require additional paperwork to be filed. This is the couple’s responsibility and Palace Resorts is not liable for any additional charges that may be associated according to the state/country’s requirements on supplementary paperwork.
• Ceremony cannot be performed unless all documents are in order.  No exceptions.  All documents with the exception of Passports become the property of the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico.
• All documents must be presented in English and will be translated into Spanish at the resort.

 

Requirements for Symbolic/Vow Renewal Ceremony:

• Passport and Tourist ID
• Marriage Certificate
• Bride & Groom must arrive in Cozumel at least 4 business days prior to wedding ceremony to meet the wedding planner and submit documents.  Sundays are not considered a business day.  Bride & Groom must be at the resort by 12 noon on day one for it to count as a day.

 

Wedding Requirements & Facts:

• Bride and groom are required to arrive at the Cozumel Palace Resort 4 business days prior to ceremony and must arrive by 12 noon to count as a day. Holidays and Sundays do not count as one of those days.
• Administrative/Government fee of $300.00 will be applied to all civil ceremonies performed by the justice of the peace in addition to package cost.  Translation fees for documents will be charged at the resort according to the documents and number of pages.
• Wedding cake included in our collection will be customized for number of guests attending ceremony
• In case of inclement weather, fireworks presentation will not be extended.   No credit is extended.
• Four bottles of champagne are included in complimentary and wedding collections packages.
• Dinner reservations at selected restaurants noted number of guests.   If you have more guests, a private function can be purchased.
• Photography packages are ready within 72 hours.
• Penalty of $300.00 will be charged to credit card if reservation is cancelled within 45 days of the wedding date.
• Wedding packages are extended to guests of the Palace Resorts only.
• Deposit of 50% is required within 14 days of wedding ceremony confirmation.  The final payment is due 30 days prior to the wedding date.
• Optional services can be paid for during the meeting with the wedding planner.  Exceptions are private functions, religious ceremony and live band.
• Legal ceremonies are performed in English with the exception of Isla Mujeres Palace, Playacar Palace, Cozumel Palace and Vallarta Palace where ceremonies are only performed in Spanish.
• Guests attending the wedding that are not staying at one of the Palace Resorts hotels will be required to purchase a day pass.  Costs and restrictions apply.
