Akumal Beach Resort is a little all-inclusive hotel in Akumal - one of the most beautiful quiet spots on the Mayan Riviera.
The guests at Akumal Beach Resort truly love this little all-inclusive because of it’s friendly, personal atmosphere and it’s amazing beach location.
Do you love snorkeling? Do you love a quiet beach spot? Do you love fostering relationships you’ll remember for a lifetime? Do you want to experience a real beach town in Mexico? This is the spot for you!
Akumal Beach Resort is a one and only all-inclusive resort within a few minutes of the small fishing village of Akumal a little over an hour from the Cancun airport.
With only 241 rooms this is a small all-inclusive. The Standard rooms have not been renovated and I wouldn’t really recommend them. The Superior rooms have partial or ocean views and are the most popular. Each room has a private balcony or terrace. All rooms have both air conditioning and ceiling fans, bathrooms, hair dryers with showers and cable TV. The hotel offers free safety deposit boxes.
Rooms do not have mini bars or refrigerators or coffee pots but they can be arranged for at the front desk for a fee.
The hotel offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, national and international drinks, purified water, house wine, beer and soft drinks in all bars and restaurants.
The beach is wide and long and guests enjoy beach towels, hammocks, lounge chairs and cover under palapas provided by the hotel.
All taxes are included in your hotel fee.
Daily activities include beach volleyball, stretching, yoga, aquagym, archery and dance lessons during the day. Nightly guests enjoy live music at the bar and at the beach, entertainment shows and contests in the theatre and in the main bar.
Would you like to try scuba? The hotel offers a free introductory scuba lesson in the pool free.
Snorkeling - come here for the snorkeling. This is the spot that everyone’s looking for - perfect beach to walk in the ocean and snorkel. Tons of fish and turtles! Turtles live here all year long but between May and October this is where they are - and lots of them. The best month is supposed to be August when the eggs start hatching and you get to be part of the turtle release. Any time you come, the turtles are protected so when they come to the beach and nest and when they hatch and any time between, the resort will be protecting them. I recommend you bring your own snorkel equipment as the resort has limited equipment and you’ll fall in love with snorkeling here!
There’s a kids club for children age 4-12 year but kids will truly love the beach as the water is shallow and calm and perfect for children. This is a great opportunity for kids to be kept busy with sand castles, treasure hunts, beach games, arts and crafts and much more when mom and dad enjoy a bit of alone time. Kids club is open from 9 to 12 pm and then again from 3 to 5 pm.
There are also planned activities for kids 13 and older to get together and activities with kids their own age.
The hotel offers one main restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with everything ranging from healthy International food to great Mexican food. Vegetarian options are also available.
The hotel also has one a la carte restaurant which offers a Mexican menu alternating with Italian menu. This restaurant is open for dinner only and closed on Sundays.
For both restaurants, dress is casual - no formal dress code or long pants required.
A beachfront snack bar is also available for daytime cravings for hot dogs, grilled burgers, pizza, guacamole and chips and other munchies.
Drinks are served at the beach and in main pool areas also.
Akumal Beach Resort offers a Moonrise/Beach Club bar at the edge of the property close to Akumal which is open to the public by charge or free to Akumal Beach guests. This is the perfect spot to meet friends who may be staying off the property or meet new friends who may just be there using the beach, to exchange “turtle stories” or just plain hang out and visit with whoever passes by! It’s a popular meeting place and sure to become your favorite spot!
